GIANTS OF SCULPTURE
A Show Like None Other!
GIANTS OF SCULPTURE, a stunning collection of highly significant works from Switzerland, Italy, Mexico, Canada and the United States is presently mounted at Longstreth Goldberg art, one of the newest major galleries on the Naples art scene.
Off the beaten path, the public is quickly
beating a path to the doors of this outstanding show as the
word is getting around. To be on exhibit until the end of April,
the collection includes a monumentally delightful papier-mâché
dog "Molly" who made the trip to Florida from Maine quite successfully.
Her creator, Doug Chess,
who also shows paintings and other pieces of sculpture, also
made the trip successfully and helped parade, on the premises
during opening night, wearing one of his fiendishly clever full
head masks.
Sculpture outside includes major works from the noted
Swiss sculptor Heinz Aeschlimann
as well as Henry Richardson's
"Tikkun," the 2,000 pound, six foot in diameter glass globe,
which shimmers in the sunlight and sparkles in spotlights at night.
Pristine marble
from Italy is hauntingly reminiscent of the revered Renaissance
sculptors. From the Long Island studio of Hal
Buckner stunning wall pieces of painted aluminum have a
distinctive and personalized art deco flair. The public has
been equally enthralled with the world's largest sculpture in
multi-colored Lucite, the work of innovative sculptor Dean
Young. The imaginative works of mid-westerners Marie
e.v.b. Gibbons and Linda
Ganstrom, together with the haunting figures from the famed Mark
Chatterley, bring this special collection to exceptional
prominence.

has compatible paintings carefully selected to balance the large pieces
of sculpture.
The quality and the unusual works

Henry Richardson,
Dan Meyer and George
Snyder make this special show worthy of repeat visits.
