Liz Whiney Quisgard

Thousands and thousands of colored dots are placed meticulously upon canvases and even walls to create dazzling, kaleidoscopic images spawned in the imaginative mind and applied with the talented brush of Liz Whitney Quisgard, an acclaimed Soho, New York artist. With an upcoming show at the Whitney Museum, and currently holder of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner award, Ms. Quisgard's works are currently achieving major recognition and stature and hang, already, in several museums. A graduate of the Maryland Institute, College of Art, she returned to MICA for a masters degree in sculpture and later a certificate in architectural design.

Working in oil and in acrylic, shifting effortlessly from sculpture and canvas, many Quisgard works have elements of Byzantine or Moorish architecture and her dot patterns help to reinforce the image of mosaic tile or mysterious multicolored Eastern jewels.

Commissioned to produce large works, huge joined panels take the viewer into mysterious rooms, intriguing passageways, through inviting archways and coax the viewer to dare to proceed, to immerse themselves further.

Millions of dots, in the gifted hands of Liz Whitney Quisard, create scenes of unbelievable mystery and epitomize the oxymoron, peaceful intrigue.
